HISTORY - Historical restaurant on Varese Lakehas been a point of reference for gourmets who have frequented it over the decades to taste the flavours of the territory in contact with nature. Artists, actors and personalities from the cultural and entrepreneurial scene, not only Italian, have sat at the tables of Gallione, appreciating the recipes linked to tradition.
History - The name Gallione evokes the ancient Celtic or Gallic lineages that founded most of the villages in the Insubrica area. After the Roman period, new people from the north, the Lombard, resumed their toponymal, perhaps giving it the new form of "gaagium" (a sort of hunting reserve of the German nobility). Gaion was a big “roncola”, with an elongated handle, used in hunting.
Today - Completely rebuilt in 2010 with a great combination of style, design and elegance, today the Al Gallione Restaurant offers an atmosphere perfectly integrated with the surrounding nature, with a large parking and lot spaces to visit. The nuances of the dove-grey and cream dominate on the decorations and colours of the interiors, creating a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, but always refined. Harmony dominates the interior setting, in full respect of the classic style, while the choice of supports from the Classico Conviviale collection gives to the subjects represented a particular and unusual charm.
The area of Lake Varese has always been famous for its beautiful gardens, well kept and always flowering, which are part of the nineteenth-century villas overlooking the lake.
In addition to the refinement of the interior, guests can also enjoy at the Ristorante al Gallione an elegant and spacious garden, which is accessed directly from the structure: a Roman-style porch allows you to create buffets and banquets for any occasion; the garden with the elegant gazebos is the ideal location to organize important lunch such as ceremony - weddings, confirmations, communions, baptisms - for birthdays and anniversaries, but also to take an aperitif, lunch, dinner or simply to treat yourself to moments of relaxation A multi-seasonal garden, different every month and always visible from inside.
The Al Gallione Restaurant is located in the small town of Bodio Lomnago (VA), located on the southern shore of Lake Varese, about 10km from the latter.
Surrounded by greenery and tranquility, is one of the places that offers the best landscapes and views of the lake, among hills of high value and reflections on the lake.
Bodio Lomnago can be defined as the first real town after Schiranna: already in 1800 important reclamation works were carried out on the banks because the first factories were born.
Some archaeological finds recently found, however, testify to a presence of man in this territory already in the past millennia. Not far from Bodio Lomnago, towards the Natural Reserve of Palude Brabbia, there are three well-kept ancient glaciers, which are part of the historical heritage of Lake Varese.
It is possible to visit the small sanctuary of the Madonna del Lago in Azzate.
The town of Azzio is home to one of the largest glaciers, 6 meters deep and 5 wide, most likely used for the preservation of food in the nearby convent.
The Al Gallione restaurant is located in Bodio Lomnago, at km 9, along the 28 km route of the shady, flat and well-maintained cycle path that runs along the lake of Varese. The route is very suggestive and varied; you go from meadows to woods to the lake, with the background of the Pre-Alps and the Alps as a contour.
The cycle-pedestrian track allows you to enjoy all the colors and landscapes that this lake offers: the background with the snowy Monte Rosa during the winter, the green hills with small villages that rise there, the meadows and beaches along the lake, with parks and wide spaces. The movement reconciles the appetite and then why not take advantage of a tasty stop at our structure, a charming historic house with all the charm of modernity, a few steps from Lake Varese. Exploring a territory through its flavours is the most intense way to get to know it and taste it up close.
The characteristic location in which the Al Gallione Restaurant is located, allows you to spend a weekend between history, art, nature and culture and of course, excellent food and wine: after a nice morning walk along the shores of the lake, you can stop at Al Gallione for a convivial lunch with your family and in the afternoon continue the tour of Bodio Lomnago and Varese, among lush gardens and extraordinary nineteenth-century villas.
